This was about 45 minutes before sunrise. The thermometer hit minus 40 overnight, but with such an active aurora there was no time to get cold....OK the proper layers of clothes helped!

Here are a few from Mount Assiniboine. Each year, August sees the Perseid Meteor shower. It doesn't get much better than being at Mount Assiniboine to witness that event

Always nice to be able to walk to the end of your own driveway, look up and be greeted to one of the best Aurora displays. The next 10 photos are all from the same night

If you ever have the chance to visit Blachford Lake Lodge....take it.

Very remote indeed. The plane flies from Yellowknife and during the winter it lands on frozen Blachford Lake

The amazing staff of Arctic Haven Lodge took us to the north end of Ennadai Lake, where we got to camp on the tundra for a few nights.

The northern lights did not disappoint!

The Red Planet?

The Red Planet?

No....it's obviously the moon, not mars!

The summer of 2017 saw many wildfires throughout British Columbia. Strong winds led to the skies in Calgary being thick with smoke. That, in turn, led to the moon appearing a deep orange colour
