Mt. Assiniboine Provincial Park, in the heart of the Canadian Rocky Mountains, is one of the most magical places on earth. The following photos show it in all its splendour.

White, white, white.... and red?
Deep snow and ice cover Lake Magog at the base of Mount Assiniboine

Magnificent Crowfoot mountain is found along the Icefields Parkway, north of Lake Louise. It is here that you can find Bow Lake, the head waters of the Bow River.
In August, beautiful fireweed is in full bloom around the lake. Shortly after sunrise, the fog and clouds lifted from the mountain, leaving a single low band. As the sun rose, it began to light up the flowers.
Well worth the early morning start.

Fireweed is abundant in the mountains during the summer. Fog lifts as the sun rises, revealing the mountain ranges above Bow Lake.

Every view in the Lake O'Hara area is breathtaking, as you'll see from the following photos.

Larch trees turning golden, above Lake O'Hara
September is a magical time in the Canadian Rockies. The larch trees turn golden and snow is possible.

This is an extremely popular area, so looking for a "different view" is a challenge, but definitely possible. The next few photos show that by changing perspective you can leave the crowds behind.

One of my favourite places to take photos was McDougall Church, Morley, Alberta. Sadly, it burnt down in May 2017.
The full moon sets behind the Rocky Mountains

The church is seen here surrounded by aspen trees, turning golden during the fall.

Hard to beat the sunrise at Wedge Pond! Alpenglow hits Mount Kidd soon after sunrise and for a few minutes the mountains appear golden. The fall colours certainly add to the scene.

Amazing place to visit in the fall. The aspens are soooo golden against strikingly blue skies and snowy peaks.

Mormon Row, Grand Tetons National Park
Shortly after sunrise, the barn is warmly lit.

The hottest place on earth has some pretty spectacular mountains. A great place to visit... in December, not July!
